On Saturday, there were only 15 minutes left until we closed for the weekend. The leasing consultant and I were getting ready to start shutting things down, when the phone rang. A resident was calling to let us know there was a lot of water in their home on the floor. We went down to check it out, and the situation was bad. There was standing water of about an inch in one of the bathrooms, and when you stepped on the carpet in over half of their home, it squished and you could hear the water, and see it make the carpet more wet. Taking care of this has taken several days. We had to have fans put in the home and vacuum the water up to dry the carpet out. Then we gave the residents a free carpet shampoo to clean out the carpet and prevent mold. For their patience as a thank you, we gave them a Visa gift card.
