Yesterday I had the pleasure of following around the maintenance team and seeing how they conduct themselves on the job and how they handle their various work orders. I was very impressed with the amount of skills must be known to be a fairly competent maintenance guy. I assumed just anybody could become “the maintenance guy” but after learning some of their qualifications and seeing some of the things they have to do on a day to day basis, I have gained a new level of appreciation for maintenance crews all over. After shadowing the crew I have also learned what to look for when seeing if a potential maintenance worker is qualified to become apart of the team. As a little bonus, I was given a set of tools and a tool bag which was left on site. It wasn’t full of tools but it had a couple but it was really nice of them to offer me some tools because everyone should have a tool bag.
