This last week, I went to Milwaukee twice for two different meetings. One of the meetings was for all of the CDs in Madison and Milwaukee. The other meeting was to learn more about the MIT program. These meetings allowed me to gain more knowledge about Weidner Apartment Homes and why we do certain things in property management.
During the CD meeting, we learned more about projections and how to project numbers accurately for the middle of the month and the end of the month to see if you’re going to make PLI. This meeting was fun to see how each property in Wisconsin was performing.
During the MIT/Intern/Mentor meeting, I sat with the regional team, current MITs, mentors, and other interns. We talked about what the MIT program was all about. I also got feedback and advice from those that graduated from the MIT program and have been in the business for 10+ years.
Finally, while working in the office, we have been leasing again like crazy. With school starting just around the corner, we have had prospects interested in our apartment community. I enjoy getting to know each client I work with and helping them find their perfect home.
A portion of your Real Estate Property Management coursework includes Cooperative Education. These intern positions apply your classroom knowledge in a professional work setting, where you’ll gain confidence in your skills and abilities.
You’ll build a stronger resume with the work experience employers need and may have a position in place before graduating. Many students receive a job offer from their Co-op employer for a full-time position following graduation.
These paid internships provide hands-on, real world experience in Multifamily and Commercial real estate, as well as earn degree credit. Opportunities are available in great locations such as:
- Washington
- Texas
- Arizona
- Tennessee
- Colorado
- Illinois
- Alaska
- Minnesota
- Michigan
Cooperative Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout is part of a nationwide university program that integrates career-related work experience with academic course work.
